After completing his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering at the Kyrgyz State Technical University (KSTU) in the capital of Bishkek, Mirbek Bekboliev defended his master's degree in Building Science/Architecture at the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, with the focus on "Sustainable Building and Low Energy Building Design". In his Master thesis, he dealt with the assessment of building performance before and after refurbishment, in addition to measuring building airtightness level on site and comparing it with the simulated case.
His professional experience with BIM and Prefabricated Building Construction came with the Task Force Innovation International and later on was further developed at the Paysa Prefabricated Buildings (Turkey), where he has gained valuable experiences in Sales and Marketing, Tendering as well as Business Development. He has been working as Sustainability Consultant and Building Physicist, dealing with LEED (“Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design”) Certification, Passivhaus and Zero Energy Building Standards, Building Energy Simulations, Lighting Design as well as on-site measurements with IR Thermography Imaging and Blower Door. At the "Solar Decathlon China” 2013 he was a volunteer Sustainability Consultant for the Team “Turkey”.
After moving to Germany, Mister Bekboliev devoted himself to learn the German language. He did his internship in Building Physics and BIM with hdg Architects BDA Henninger and Lachenmann in Bad Kreuznach.
Our new colleague brings his experience with various building energy simulation tools in combination with the BIM methods that he has been using and implementing in various projects over the past few years. He has been awarded with various prizes at international design competitions that focused on BIM, Green Building, Lighting Design and Sustainability topics.

Within the buildingSMART business unit, Mirbek Bekboliev is primarily responsible for the organizational support of the various buildingSMART Working Groups ("Work Rooms", "Expert Groups", "Project Groups" and "Round Tables") He will also look after individual regional groups and maintain close contact with the "Rooms" and "Working Groups" at buildingSMART International.
His first tasks are to familiarize himself with the multi-level work structure of buildingSMART and to get acquainted with the Leaders of the various Working Groups. Our members will have the opportunity to meet Mirbek Bekboliev personally at the buildingSMART-Thematic Day on 21st September in Ratingen, and especially at the buildingSMART-Meeting on 26th October in Berlin.
